Award-winning US production company Left/Right has promoted senior executive Anneka Jones to the role of Chief Content Officer, and welcomes Esther Dere to the team as Executive Producer. Michael Mezaros, a key member of the Left/Right team for over 15 years, has also been promoted to Executive Vice President of Post-Production.
This move to bolster its senior executive team allows Left/Right to build on and expand its award-winning and unusually eclectic slate of unscripted content, ranging from The Circus (Showtime) to The New York Times Presents (FX/Hulu) to Ride with Norman Reedus (AMC) to The Zoo (Animal Planet).
Upped from her previous role as Executive Vice President of Development and Current Production at Left/Right, Anneka Jones will continue to oversee development and production, spearhead the company’s talent recruitment efforts, and work with company co-founders Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver to build on Left/Right’s success. Anneka joined Left/Right at its inception and has had a hand in virtually every pilot or series the company has produced since then.
Throughout her career, Esther Dere has produced unscripted content that runs the gamut from historical documentaries about cannabis, African American culture, and 1980s New York to music biographies and episodic lifestyle shows. Her work has been showcased on Netflix, A&E, ABC, CNBC, and at film festivals globally. Most recently, she produced the feature length documentary Universe about Miles Davis’ protégé Wallace Roney. The film was awarded best music documentary by the International Documentary Association.
Michael Mezaros will continue to oversee the company’s extensive post-production team and facility, as well as its technical operations, while also playing a key role as Executive Producer in Left/Right’s feature documentary unit. Michael’s most recent creative projects include a pair of films commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks for History.
“We are very happy to make these announcements. Anneka, Mike, and Esther are fantastic producers and storytellers, and even better people,” said Banks Tarver and Ken Druckerman, co-presidents of Left/Right.
