Taut mystery drama The Gone launched on RTÉ in Ireland this Sunday to stellar ratings. The premiere episode attracted a 30.2% share, 330,000 viewers – more than double the broadcaster’s main competitor. The show was also number one on the RTÉ Player on Monday.
The series launched on New Zealand’s TVNZ earlier this year where episodes were streamed over 1,012,000 times on TVNZ+ in the first three months after launch.
The Gone is a deftly crafted, character-driven drama that follows Dublin-based Theo Richter, an Irish Special Branch detective, as he heads to New Zealand to help search for two young Irish tourists who have vanished without a trace. They’ve gone missing from Mount Affinity, a picturesque rural town with a dark history of disappearance and death that has recently become home to supposedly altruistic tech conglomerate Houkura – dividing the local population.
Starring Richard Flood and Acushla-Tara Kupe, the series is produced by Kingfisher Films & Keeper Pictures in association with Southern Light Films for TVNZ (New Zealand) and RTÉ (Ireland).
