Hit format “Real Men” has been secured by two major European broadcasters: RTL in the Netherlands and TV4 in Sweden. The Dutch show will be produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production, and the Swedish show by Nordisk Film TV, a Banijay group company.
“Real Men” sees five everyday guys embark upon the ultimate health transformation journey, and is based on the hit Danish format produced by MakeItBee (formerly Fjernsynsforeningen). The show rated over 80% above the channel slot average on DR1 in Denmark, with over half of the Danish TV population tuning in.
Following its launch at MIPTV 2015, production companies in Belgium, Finland and New Zealand have also secured production rights to the format: Warner Bros. International Television Production for Belgium, FremantleMedia Finland for Finland and Eyeworks for New Zealand.
Niklas Vestberg, Formats Manager TV4 Sweden, says: “We are very excited to have picked up this delightful format. It feels like a fresh take on the health genre and we hope that the real men of Sweden will be just as inspiring to our viewers as in Denmark.”
About “Real Men”
Real Men never worry about their weight and are proud of their lazy lifestyles and unhealthy habits – but this is at the expense of their own health.
In this hit format five charismatic men – all of whom have regular jobs and families – are put on an intense training regime to improve their health. Over five months the contestants must take part in physical challenges ranging from swimming to meditation and martial arts.
The series culminates with a grueling mixed outdoor event, which will push the men to their physical and mental limits. Coming together as friends and uniting a nation behind them, these real men are determined to change their lives for the better and have a lot of fun along the way.
Format originally created and produced by MakeItBee (formerly Fjernsynsforeningen) in coproduction with DR.
