The three original formats cover fashion sustainability, sexual health and body image and will feature prominent female figures from comedy and the digital space.
Studio71 has announced production of a trio of factual series commissioned by the BBC. Fashion Conscious, Period Dramas and Sex in Seconds are being developed and produced by the UK arm of the global content studio for BBC digital platforms including iPlayer, YouTube and social.
All three series are female-led, featuring a variety of rising UK-based talent from different sectors and explore contemporary themes such as fashion and sustainability, body positivity and sexuality/sexual health.
The productions continue the studio’s global commitment to develop and produce innovative formats that speak directly to a core audience of 18-30-year-olds.
Fashion Conscious hosted by Grace Mandeville
Actor, presenter, model and internet personality Grace Mandeville will host the six-episode short-form series Fashion Conscious which looks at the fashion industry’s sustainability problem and explores consumer alternatives. Come Curious are experts in this space, providing advice to a predominantly young audience via their YouTube channel. The show hopes to break this taboo, and have viewers laughing along, cringing and most importantly relating to these open and honest stories.
Jody Smith, Creative Director of Studio71 UK, says: “We’re thrilled to be making three distinctive series for the BBC, all united in how they talk to a young audience. We’ve leant on our experience of working with new and digital talent to produce series that aim to resolve challenges through storytelling and discussion – that begins in the shows and will continue in people’s lives.”
Daisy Griffith, Digital Commissioner, BBC Factual, says: “It’s been great working with Studio71 and making the most of their expertise in creating content for younger audiences – they really understand the topics and talent that appeal to this demographic, as well as the pace and style of the content.”
