The Weekly, the major new half-hour series produced by Left/Right and The New York Times, is to premiere June 2, 2019 on FX in the US, with next day streaming on Hulu US.
The Weekly is The New York Times’s first major foray into TV, bringing unparalleled journalism to the screen.
The series is distributed worldwide by Red Arrow Studios International, who launched the show at this week’s MIPTV in Cannes.
Each half-hour episode features a New York Times journalist investigating one of the most pressing issues of the day. With more than 1,550 journalists reporting from 160 countries each year, the Times publishes 250 stories a day – investigative reports, political scoops, cultural dispatches. And each week, The Weekly chooses to tell one of these stories in a visual and unforgettable way.
The Weekly is produced by Red Arrow Studios company Left/Right and The New York Times. Executive producers of The Weekly are Mat Skene, Jason Stallman, Sam Dolnick, Stephanie Preiss, and Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver for Left/Right.
FX has the first-run North American rights to The Weekly, in partnership with Hulu, which will be the exclusive SVOD streaming home to new episodes of the series the day after air. In addition to the FX linear telecast and Hulu, episodes will also be available on FX’s VOD services, FXNOW (with commercials) and FX+ (commercial-free) to authenticated subscribers.
The series will debut Sunday, June 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
