Gravitas Ventures has closed a multi-picture output deal with independent film production company Kamikaze Dogfight, to release up to two horror/thriller genre titles per month, to boost their horror/thriller film portfolio.
Kamikaze Dogfight is co-helmed by two seasoned filmmakers Andrew van den Houten and Han Soto. Both have extensive experience in production and distribution, and have been involved with numerous award-winning titles. Their hands-on experience, along with their knowledge of marketing genre films, means they have a strategic understanding of what resonates within the horror community.
“Horror fans are the most loyal and supportive out there,” said Andrew van den Houten. “Giving new and established filmmakers a platform to elevate their film’s release with the strongest key art, trailers and positioning is most important to us. Whether a film is a theatrical or digital release, through our trusted partnership with Gravitas, our curation will be able to reach over a hundred million viewers at any given time.”
“It’s exciting to be partnering with Gravitas and we couldn’t have manifested a better match that aligns with Kamikaze Dogfight’s core values and visions,” said Han Soto. “When entering the world with a finished film, be it a seasoned or first-time filmmaker, the feelings that are harnessed with the unknown can be terrifying. It’s our job to mitigate that feeling while finding a good home for their films.”
Kamikaze Dogfight was established on the heels of Andrew and Han’s recently produced revenge thriller, Don’t Look Back, with genre veteran Jeffrey Reddick (Final Destination creator-writer) making his feature film directorial debut.
“Gravitas is thrilled to work with Andrew and Han to shine a light on some of the most talented writers, actors and directors working in genre films. We have collaborated with Andrew on numerous projects over the years including Jug Face, 13 Cameras, and 14 Cameras. We look forward to Kamikaze Dogfight also finding wide appreciative audiences,” said Nolan Gallagher, Founder and CEO of Gravitas Ventures.
The deal was negotiated between Nolan Gallagher and Brendan Gallagher of Gravitas Ventures with van den Houten and Soto. Gravitas has appointed Nick Royak from its acquisitions team to manage the Kamikaze Dogfight relationship.
