The second season of Old People’s Home for 4 Years on ABC in Australia finished its successful run in early May, with the final episode claiming the the number two non news spot of the night. It pulled in overnight figures of 637,000 metro viewers, beating both MasterChef Australia (517,000 metro viewers) and Big Brother (515,000 metro viewers).
The recipient of widespread acclaim and viewer praise, the Australian version of Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, produced by Endemol Shine Australia in association with ABC, has already won two awards – an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts award for the Best Documentary or Factual Program and an International Format Award for the Best Factual Format. This adds to the multiple accolades clocked up by the UK version, which include a Grierson Award, two Edinburgh TV Awards, three Realscreen Awards, and an International Emmy.
Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds was created and produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4, where it has been a huge hit across two seasons. Distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, the format has sold to 15 territories, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Poland, France, Sweden, Denmark and Portugal.
