Red Arrow Studios International has picked up five nominations at this year’s International Format Awards.
Hit entertainment format Beat the Channel has been nominated in the Best Brand Driven Format category, Best Studio-Based Format, and hosts Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (aka Joko and Klaas) have also been nominated for Best Host of a Format; and Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds Australia and The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes have both been nominated in the Best Factual Entertainment Format category.
Beat the Channel, created and produced by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben in Germany, is a high-energy, noisy and totally original concept in which two popular TV presenters are given the chance to win a 15-minute live broadcast slot, where anything goes.
The show recently ended a hugely successful third season on ProSieben, and the format has been sold by Red Arrow Studios International to territories including France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Middle East.
The Australian version of award-winning format Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is produced by Endemol Shine Australia in association with ABC. The format, which aired on ABC Australia last year, has already picked up an AACTA Award.
The original format was created and produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 in the UK, completing two successful seasons and winning countless international awards including Realscreen, Broadcast, Edinburgh TV, Grierson and International Format awards. The show was also nominated for a 2018 and 2019 BAFTA award.
The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes was originally created and produced by Red Arrow Studio’s CPL Productions and Motion Content Group. The innovative new social experiment format sees a group of people living with dementia tasked with helping to run a restaurant.
The format has already been sold to Talpa TV in the Netherlands, which commissioned a local version for SBS6, produced by Concept Street. Additionally, in Belgium Red Arrow Studios International has licensed the format to production company Roses are Blue.
The International Format Awards are the leading awards for the global formats business, organised by C21Media, FRAPA and EMC, in association with MIPFormats. The awards will be presented online this month.
