CBS in the US has picked up a pilot of acclaimed Seven.One Studios International drama series Einstein, for the the 2025-26 broadcast season; creator/executive producer Andy Breckman and director/executive producer Randy Zisk (the creative team behind hit procedural Monk) are attached.
Einstein follows, Felix – the youngest professor to have ever taught theoretical physics at his university, and a genius. However, life has its challenges: Felix is terminally ill with hereditary Huntington’s disease, and he faces a prison sentence when accused of stealing illicit stimulants to help manage his condition. He is saved from jail when the police recognize that his brilliance could help them solve some of their most complex cases and recruit him as a police consultant.
Partnered with strong, quick-witted detective Elena, Einstein sees the pair investigate a complex bank robbery which comes to light following the murder of a dog walker, the case of a suspected suicide, and uncover the truth behind the poisoning of a group of senior citizens – all using the intelligence and innovation Felix’s grandfather is famous for.
Breckman, who wrote the Einstein pilot, and Zisk, who will direct it, executive produce alongside Intrigue’s Tariq Jalil; Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia and Laura Beetz for Seven.One Studios International.
Originally written by Martin Ritzenhoff and Matthias Dinter based on a 2015 movie from the same team, Einstein series was a hit for SAT.1 acrorss three seasons. It starred Tom Beck as Professor Dr Felix ‘Einstein’ Winterberg and Annika Ernst as police commissioner Elena Lange. It was produced by Zeitsprung Pictures.
