Dorsey Pictures has once again been recognized by Realscreen in their highly coveted Global 100 List. This marks the third consecutive year of recognition for Dorsey Pictures amongst the leading unscripted and nonfiction screen content companies, as determined by the leading trade publication with input from industry executives across streamers, cable and broadcast networks, producers, distributors, agents, publicists and stakeholders.
As Realscreen Editor and content director Barry Walsh described, “While the COVID-19 pandemic ground production to a halt in its early days, it quickly became clear that the global unscripted and nonfiction production community would be able to provide a beam of light in a long, dark tunnel for which an end wasn’t fully visible. The problem solver and magician components that help comprise the particular alchemy of a producer came to the fore, with production companies around the world moving full tilt into innovation mode…”
Walsh’s depiction was certainly the case for Dorsey Pictures and its Managing Partners Chris and Amy Dorsey. During the past year, despite a year of production shutdowns and uncertainty in the TV business, Dorsey Pictures managed its best year financially with 60+ hours of unscripted programming produced.
The ongoing success of Dorsey Pictures led to a deal renewal with Red Arrow Studios, a wholly owned subsidiary of ProSieben SAT.1, Germany’s largest media company in early 2021. Additionally, the company continues its success with leading lifestyle series including Maine Cabin Masters, Building Off the Grid, Building Alaska and Reclaimed, and added Stone House Revival for Magnolia to its slate. Dorsey Pictures also continued its success in true crime programming with the second season of Accident, Suicide or Murder and expanded to producing Wings Over Water 3D, an IMAX film narrated by Michael Keaton premiering fall 2021, with the film moving to television after its theatrical release.
