Gravitas Ventures has acquired US rights to John Walker’s documentary Assholes: a Theory. The film will be released in theaters on October 30 and on demand on November 6, 2020.
Inspired by the New York Times bestselling book, this lively philosophical investigation into the rise of asshole behavior across the world asks: what does it mean to be an asshole, and more importantly, how do we stop their proliferation? Assholes: a Theory features John Cleese, Edoardo Albinati, Aaron James and Sherry Lee Benson-Podolchuk and is produced by Ann Bernier, Annette Clarke, and John Walker.
“We are thrilled that Gravitas is taking on the release and are looking forward to sharing the film with the U.S. audience.” Said filmmaker John Walker.
“A-holes have been around forever, but here, in this film, we have a thoughtful approach to quantifying the traits and practices of these types of people. Veteran filmmaker John Walker expounds upon Aaron James’ literary theories in an engaging and thoroughly entertaining way. Our Gravitas Team is very excited to work this truly unique project,” said Nick Royak Senior Acquisitions Manager at Gravitas Ventures.
Royak negotiated the deal with Nathalie Bourdon and Oscar Rangel.
