Gravitas Ventures has picked up the worldwide rights to new CrossFit documentary movie The Fittest, which goes behind the scenes of the 2019 CrossFit Games.
The film will be released on iTunes and AppleTV on March 24, two weeks ahead of its planned release on April 7, having reached 15000 pre-orders within 48 hours. The film will also have a limited theatrical release and be available on all video on-demand services from April 14.
The Fittest is directed and produced by The Buttery Bros, Heber Cannon and Marston Sawyers—the team behind other hugely successful CrossFit docs including Fittest on Earth: The Story of the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games and Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness.
The film reveals the behind the scenes drama after shakeups at CrossFit Inc. between the 2018 and 2019 Games. Through in-the-moment footage from the Games and interviews with athletes including Fraser, Toomey, Katrin Davidsdottir, Patrick Vellner, Annie Thorisdottir, and Noah Ohlsen, the documentary captures the competitors’ experience adjusting to the new Games format and fighting through other obstacles to win the title of the Fittest Man or Woman on Earth.
The Fittest is available for preorder on iTunes now.
