Last night (Wednesday, December 1) saw the hit Red Arrow Studios International format Beat the Channel (local title: Joko und Klaas gegen ProSieben) pull in impressive ratings in Germany for its 15 Minutes Live special. The show’s hosts, Joko and Klaas, won this week’s episode of the primetime entertainment show, entitling them to a 15 minute live slot on ProSieben the following night, to program however they wished.

The duo chose to dedicate the airtime to coronavirus, producing a hard-hitting and powerful segment featuring future German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who launched an urgent vaccination appeal to the public. The politician appeared alongside a Long Covid patient and a senior physician working in the intensive care unit, who both shared their personal experiences of the virus.

1.92m viewers tuned in to watch the live special, making it the show’s second highest rated special ever. ProSieben drew an audience of 1.51m 14-to-49-year-old viewers – equivalent to an impressive 19.2% market share. The stellar ratings follow on from the show’s continued success across Season Four.

Beat the Channel is produced by Florida Entertainment and distributed by Red Arrow Studios International.
