Update – March 4, 2020: The Cannes International Series Festival – CANNESERIES, originally scheduled to run parallel to MIPTV, will now take place October 9-14, alongside MIPCOM. This is due to concerns related to the coronavirus (Covid-19).
New Red Arrow Studios International drama series Dignity has been announced as part of the CANNESERIES S03 lineup, where it will screen in competition.
At a press conference in Paris, Albin Lewi, the Artistic Director of the international series festival CANNESERIES presented the selection, programme and juries of the festival’s third consecutive edition. CANNESERIES S03 will kick off on March 27 and runs until the awards ceremony on April 1.
Hollywood producer Gale Ann Hurd (The Walking Dead, Aliens, Terminator) will preside over the international jury, while Jamie Bamber of cult series Battlestar Galactica will preside over the Short Form Competition jury. David Hasselhoff is the festival’s guest of honour and actors Judith Light and Sydney Sweeney will be given career awards.
10 series have been selected for the official competition, including Dignity, and 10 series for the short format competition. CANNESERIES will also present a programme of Rendez-vous free screening and opportunities to meet talent, as well as a meeting point for and about writers in series, including a programme of talks with writers such as Eric Rochant and Fanny Herrero.
Dignity is the first original drama series commissioned by Joyn, the new German streaming platform by ProSiebenSat.1, Red Arrow Studios’ parent company.
Dignity (8 x 52’) is a major new political thriller produced by Story House Productions in Germany and Chilean film and TV producer Invercine & Wood, in co-production with the Chilean television fund CNTV and MEGA, and is currently in production in Germany and Chile. Dignity launched on Joyn alongside other premium product in December 2019, and will launch in Chile during 2020.
From March 27 to April 1, CANNESERIES will turn the city of Cannes into the international capital of series. CANNESERIES is dedicated to the promotion of series from all over the world and the international exhibition of this new popular and ultra-creative art. The festival takes place at the same time as the MIPTV trade fair. Open to the public and organized by an independent association chaired by Fleur Pellerin, the festival celebrates excellence by welcoming international talent and highlighting series spanning all genres, formats and origins.
