The new German version of multi award-winning format Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, produced by RedSeven Entertainment for VOX, enjoyed a successful premiere last night, February 18, 2019, in Germany.
Wir sind klein und ihr seid alt (We Are Small and You Are Old) premiered with an 8.2% share in the 14-49 age group, boosting the channel’s average for the slot by 30% based on the last 12 months. The premiere also doubled the share of its lead-in program, and more than doubled the share for young females 14-29, to 14.1%. The show also enjoyed widespread positive feedback across press and social media, including Twitter.
The German version of the format sees ten senior residents of the Bergisch Gladbach care home near Cologne brought together with ten four-year-olds for six weeks.
The original production of Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is created and produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 in the UK, and has recently completed its second successful season.
Red Arrow Studios International has sold the format of the show to a range of territories including France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Australia.
Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds has won a number of international awards including Best New Format at the Realscreen Awards last month, Best Original Programme at the Broadcast Awards, Best Popular Factual Series at the Edinburgh TV Awards, and Best Factual Entertainment and Best Brand Driven Format at the International Format Awards. It was also nominated for a 2018 BAFTA award.
