Red Arrow Studios International is heading to MIPTV 2023 with an exciting and varied slate of new titles from award-winning creators across scripted, formats and factual entertainment programming.
Leading the company’s scripted offering is The Gone (6 x 60’), a gripping new mystery crime drama produced by Kingfisher Films & Keeper Pictures, in association with Southern Light Films for TVNZ (New Zealand) and RTE (Ireland). In this taut, contemporary detective drama, Dublin-based Theo Richter, an Irish Special Branch detective, heads to New Zealand to help search for two young Irish tourists who have vanished without a trace.
Further scripted highlights include the premium drama Plan B (6 x 45’) starring Patrick J Adams and Karine Vanasse, and the youth-skewing comedy drama Intimate (8 x 30’). Produced by KOTV for CBC (Canada), Plan B is a high-concept psychological drama about a man on a desperate and relentless quest to save his relationship – using time travel; while freewheeling new comedy drama Intimate (8 x 30’), produced by Pyjama Pictures and Kleine Brüder for Joyn (Germany) is a bold new improv series from the creators and stars of Die Discounter. It shows audiences what happens when the cameras are (usually) off in the chaotic lives of these 20-something stars.
On the formats front is Stranded on Honeymoon Island, the bold new adventure dating show in which couples are marooned on a deserted island and left to fend for themselves for three weeks. From Snowman Productions – the creators of Married at First Sight – the format is originally produced by PIT for VTM2 in Belgium, where the premiere last month (March) posted a market share of 46% in the main target demo 18-54 and an even more impressive 51% market share in the 15-34 demo: doubling VTM’s average market share that month.
Also available at MIPTV is the daring new format Don’t Panic, which teaches us how to worry less and prepare more for those existential threats, all delivered in an informative, entertaining and lightly comedic way. The format is originally produced by Nawi Pro for KAN11 (Israel).
Other new additions to the Red Arrow slate include the new primetime dating show Rate My Date, originally produced by DPU for SAT.1 (Germany), that asks if family and friends can pick the perfect partners for singletons or just end up choosing a cheap date. Plus, primetime challenge format Celebrity Career Challenge, which sends celebrities around the world to consider a change of career; and the riotously fun The Unbeatables which pits celebrities against non-celebrities – to see just how unbeatable they really are. Both are originally produced by Redseven Entertainment for ProSieben (Germany).
Factual entertainment highlights include new seasons of Married at First Sight US (23 x 120′ + 3 specials) and Australia (36 x 90’), produced by Kinetic Content for Lifetime (US) and Endemol Shine Australia for Nine Network respectively.
