Red Arrow Studios International has inked a trio of format sales for the world’s most watched relationship show, Married at First Sight, in Central and Eastern Europe.
RTL in Croatia, Nova TV in the Czech Republic and Slovakian broadcaster Markiza have all picked up the format rights to Red Arrow Studios International’s hit show.
Originally created by Snowman Productions for DR1 in Denmark, Married at First Sight has become one of the most talked-about and highest-rating formats of the decade. The show has been produced locally in 29 territories worldwide including multiple seasons in the USA (Lifetime), where Season 7 is currently on air; the UK (Channel 4), Australia (Nine), Denmark (DR1) and Germany (SAT.1). Broadcasters in Central and Eastern Europe who have already produced local versions of the show include TVN (Poland), RTL (Hungary) and Prima TV (Romania).
In Married at First Sight singles who have failed to find love put their hearts in the hands of a team of experts, who select their perfect partner. The couples then meet for the first time at the altar. After the wedding and honeymoon, the married couples move in together and start their new lives. From the first kiss to the first tears, cameras document every moment as experts analyse the relationships. Six weeks of marriage later, the couples have to make a decision: stay together or file for divorce.
Bo Stehmeier, EVP Global Sales for Red Arrow Studios International said: “Married at First Sight continues to be a genre-defining, global format and we’re delighted to have concluded this next wave of local versions. Our new partners are perfectly placed to make a success of the show and we look forward to watching many new couples take the bold path to finding love.”
The deals were completed by Shakira Hoffmann, Senior Sales Manager for CEE, CIS and Greece at Red Arrow Studios International.
