CCH Pounder (NCIS: New Orleans, Avatar), Jason Watkins (The Crown) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) have joined the cast for Endor Productions’ upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys for Amazon Prime Video.

Also joining the series are L Scott Caldwell (Lost), Joy Richardson (Small Axe) and Lachele Carl (Doctor Who).

Anansi Boys is shooting in Scotland and features Malachi Kirby (Black Mirror) in the lead role of Charlie Nancy, a young man used to being embarrassed by his estranged father (Delroy Lindo). But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that he was Anansi: trickster god of stories. And he learns that he has a brother.

Gaiman said: “The sheer amount of acting talent on Anansi Boys is such that I keep pinching myself to make certain I’m not dreaming it. I can’t wait until the world sees what we’re making.”

Culpepper added: “It’s such a thrill to work with this cast whom I have long admired. Each one brings so much magic to the screen and life to the story.“

The show is produced by Amazon Studios, The Blank Corporation, Endor Productions, and RED Production company. Gaiman is co-showrunner and exec produces alongside Douglas Mackinnon. Hilary Bevan Jones, Richard Fee, Lenny Henry and Hanelle M Culpepper also executive producers. Gaiman and Henry also write for the series and Culpepper is directing the pilot.
