Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds wins Best Factual Entertainment Format

Hit entertainment format Beat the Channel, distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, has picked up two awards at this year’s International Format Awards.

Beat the Channel took home the awards for Best Brand Driven Format and Best Studio-Based Format.

Created and produced by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben in Germany, Beat the Channel is a high-energy, noisy and totally original concept in which two popular TV presenters are given the chance to win a 15-minute live broadcast slot, where anything goes.

The show recently ended a hugely successful third season on ProSieben hosted by Joko Winterscheidt und Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, and the format has been sold by Red Arrow Studios International to territories including France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Middle East.

Red Arrow Studios International format Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds Australia also won for Best Factual Entertainment Format.

The Australian version of the multi-award winning format is produced by Endemol Shine Australia for ABC, and premiered last year. The successful production has already picked up an AACTA Award.

Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is created and originally produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 in the UK, completing two successful seasons and winning countless international awards including Realscreen, Broadcast, Edinburgh TV, Grierson and International Format awards. The show was also nominated for a 2018 and 2019 BAFTA award.

Red Arrow Studios International has sold the format to over 13 territories including Israel, produced by July August Productions for KAN, and Germany, produced by Redseven Entertainment for VOX.

The International Format Awards are the leading awards for the global formats business, organised by C21Media, FRAPA and EMC, in association with MIPFormats. The awards were presented in a ceremony streamed live online on Thursday, June 25.
