CBS in the US has picked up the acclaimed Seven. One Studios International crime drama Einstein – commissioning a new adaptation, the series is set to launch as part of their 2025-26 slate.
Hailing from the creative team behind hit crime procedural Monk: creator/executive producer Andy Breckman and director/executive producer Randy Zisk; the series will star Matthew Gray Gubler – of long-running series Criminal Minds — as the titular lead, alongside Rosa Salazar (Brand New Cherry Flavor).
The series follows the brilliant but directionless great grandson of Albert Einstein (Gubler), who spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad-boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases.
Originally written by Martin Ritzenhoff and Matthias Dinter and produced by Zeitsprung Picture, Einstein – starring Tom Beck – was a hit for SAT.1 across three seasons. The series has sold to over 100 territories including Spain and Portugal; and the scripted format has been adapted in Czech Republic and Hungary.
