FX (US) has revealed strong ratings for factual series The Weekly, the major new half-hour series produced by Left/Right and The New York Times for FX and Hulu. The series is distributed worldwide by Red Arrow Studios International.

The Weekly posted series high ratings for its seventh episode, “Connecting the World,” its first hour-long episode, in virtually all key demographics, including Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 in Live+3. The Weekly is averaging 1.4 million Total Viewers across all linear and non-linear platforms, a +206% increase over the primary telecast average. Additionally, The Weekly has reached 6.7 million Total Viewers to date.

The ratings news was announced by FX to mark a new lineup of docuseries and features as part of its ongoing expansion into non-fiction programming, that builds on the success of The Weekly.

“FX has long sought to give artists a platform to showcase their individual, uncompromising vision and its new docuseries and features are an opportunity to extend that ambition in our collaboration with non-fiction talent,” said Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment. “It’s been tremendously rewarding to partner with The New York Times and Hulu on The Weekly, which has excelled creatively and is hitting series-high ratings.”

The Weekly is The New York Times’s first major foray into TV, bringing unparalleled journalism to the screen. The series premiered June 2, 2019 on FX in the US, with next day streaming on Hulu US.

Each half-hour episode features a New York Times journalist investigating one of the most pressing issues of the day. With more than 1,600 journalists reporting from 160 countries each year, the Times publishes 250 stories a day – investigative reports, political scoops, cultural dispatches. And each week, The Weekly chooses to tell one of these stories in a visual and unforgettable way.

The Weekly is produced by Red Arrow Studios company Left/Right and The New York Times. Executive producers of The Weekly are Mat Skene, Jason Stallman, Sam Dolnick, Stephanie Preiss, and Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver for Left/Right.

FX has the first-run North American rights to The Weekly, in partnership with Hulu, which is the exclusive SVOD streaming home to new episodes of the series the day after air.
