British filmmaker, writer and actor Greg Ash has won the Development Award, sponsored by Red Arrow Studios, at the 2018 New York Television Festival (NYTVF).

Greg won for The Gary Gold Story, a comedy series following the misguided attempts of one-time England international footballer Gary Gold to resurrect his career in Los Angeles.

Previously at the NYTVF, Greg has showcased TV pilots Super Chill, Scott’s Lookalikes and Special Delivery, winning a TV development deal from TruTV in 2014.

Greg’s short films have screened at over 80 film festivals winning 30 awards, including Jury Prizes and Audience Awards at Palm Springs Shortfest, SIFF, Aspen, Newport Beach & Austin Film Festivals. His short film Mr. Invisible was longlisted for a BAFTA in 2014, qualified for the 2015 Academy Awards and won the 2016 Best Short Thriller of the Year Award in France. As an actor he was most recently cast as the lead in TV pilot Karma Sutra Club.

The 14th edition of the NYTVF, running July 14-20, saw Red Arrow Studios continue its support as a long-term sponsor of the event. The festival features a competition for independently produced pilots, a script contest and a competition to land development deals with major cable networks and production banners.

The NYTVF is a pioneer of the independent television movement, connecting its community of artists with leading networks, studios, agencies, production companies and brands.
