Munich, February 27th 2012. The French DTT channel Direct 8 picked up the German hit series “The Last Cop”. “Mick Brisgau” (local title) will premiere March 5th on Direct 8, airing daily at 5:40pm.
Aline Avedikian, Regional Sales Manager France says “’The Last Cop’ is one of Germany’s most successful crime series. Women love him, bad guys fear him: Mick is a classic old-school cop from the 80s who is torpedoed into modern times. This great series fits perfectly for Direct 8 and I am sure its audience will love Mick le flic”.
“I am delighted, that Direct 8 could secure the rights to this truly original series. It has proven to be a great success in Germany and we believe that Mick Brisgau’s great personality will fascinate the French audience”, says Yann Le Prado Director of Acquisitions and Diversifications of Direct 8.
The Last Cop
In the late 1980s young cop Mick Brisgau is seriously injured during a mission and ends up in a permanent coma. 17 years later, completely out of the blue, he suddenly wakes up – in a different world. The 21st century comes as a huge shock to macho Mick, who has never heard of things like the Internet or DNA. Modern women are tough cookies, while the men are all wimps.
In Germany, “The Last Cop” just started its third season on SAT.1. The series has generated audience shares of up to 19.6 per cent in the commercial target group, outperforming the channel average by 194 per cent.
