Red Arrow International has licensed its hit home-makeover format “House Rules” to kabel eins in Germany. RedSeven, a Red Arrow Entertainment company, is producing five two-hour episodes of “Haustausch – Wer renoviert sich zum Sieg?” for the channel, to go on air in early 2016.

The show will feature couples who put their homes and reputations on the line to challenge each other for the title of Germany’s best amateur home improvers.

Originally created and produced by Seven Network Operations for Seven Network in Australia, “House Rules” has just completed its third smash-hit season on Seven, beating “MasterChef” and attracting multiple sponsors.

The show has also recently been sold to the Netherlands, with a Dutch version consisting of eleven episodes due to air on SBS’s Net5 this Fall.

Henrik Pabst, Managing Director of Red Arrow International, says: “I am delighted that kabel eins has picked up this successful reality format. It’s a home improvement show with impressive scale and ambition and I am sure the success it has enjoyed in Australia will also be seen in Germany.”

Katja Hofem, Managing Director of kabel eins, says: “We are always looking for big, original shows and ‘House Rules’ takes the home renovation genre to a whole new level. The show is a perfect fit for kabel eins and we have exciting plans for this reality competition”.

About “House Rules”

Couples put their most important possession – their homes – on the line, for a life-changing prize. Travelling across the country, each week one couple hands over the keys of their home to their competitors, to transform every room in their house in seven days – in any way they want.

Each homeowner issues their own set of “House Rules” – a list of do’s and don’ts. But rules are meant to be broken! How far can each team go to transform their homes? Will the teams return to a dream house – or to their worst nightmare?

A group of home professionals and the homeowners judge the results, and following a tense finale, the home renovation winners are crowned.
