Joyn in Germany has announced that the new series Married at Second Sight will be launch on the platform on June 18.
Produced by Redseven Entertainment, the series is a new spinoff to World’s No 1 relationship format, which has been a hit for SAT.1 for more than ten years.
Married at Second Sight will see 12 singles matched by the renowned Marriage at First Sight experts, Dr Sandra Köhldorfer, Beate Quinn, and Markus Ernst. They meet in Greece and then have to say “I do” for the first time – to an engagement. As couples, they then begin the experiment, living together in a Couple House on Crete, where the cast also meet the other singles. In the finale, the all-important question arises: have they found love, and will the couples say “I do” to each other again in a celebratory wedding ceremony?
New episodes will be released twice a week on Joyn starting, with a total of 14 episodes. Thomas Münzner, Joyn’s head of programming, says: “Married at First Sight is one of the top performers on Joyn. With this spinoff, we are reinforcing our strategy of further expanding the universe of major brands. Married at Second Sight will be familiar yet fresh: in a dreamlike setting, couples once again take the plunge – in this case, not quite so cold – for true love.”
