Karga Seven Pictures Turkey, part of LA-based Karga Seven Pictures, has picked up the scripted remake rights to acclaimed and long-running US drama Suits.

Karga Seven Pictures Turkey, led by Ömer Özgüner who was announced as CEO of the company earlier this month, has secured the rights from NBCUniversal International Formats. Turkey will be the next country to remake the drama following Japan, where the series launched this week on FUJI TV and South Korea, where it rated as No.1 throughout the season on KBS.

Suits delves into the fast-paced world of a top corporate law firm, where hotshot associate Harvey Specter makes a risky move by hiring Mike Ross, a brilliant, but unmotivated college dropout. As he becomes enmeshed in this unfamiliar world, Mike relies on the firm’s best paralegal Rachel and Harvey’s no-nonsense assistant, Donna to help serve justice. With a photographic memory and the street smarts of a hustler, Mike proves to be a legal prodigy despite the absence of bona fide legal credentials.

Created by Aaron Korsh and produced by Universal Cable Productions and Hypnotic Films & Television for USA Network, Suits is now in its eighth season and continues to attract millions of viewers. It is one of the top three shows on the network and has received numerous accolades, including two People’s Choice Awards nominations for Favorite Dramedy and Favorite Cable TV Drama in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The key cast of the US version includes Gabriel Macht (Behind Enemy Lines, Spin City), Rick Hoffman (Ballers, Law & Order: LA, Hostel), Sarah Rafferty (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy), Dulé Hill (Ballers, Psych) and Amanda Schull (Pretty Little Liars, 12 Monkeys). Past season regulars included Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams (Orphan Black).

Karga Seven Pictures Turkey CEO, Ömer Özgüner, said: “We are excited to bring a local version of Suits to Turkish audiences – a show that has reached millions of viewers in over 20 countries worldwide. Turkish fans are already speculating on who will play Harvey, Mike, Rachel and the rest of the cast, and I am positive that Turkish audiences will enjoy the compelling storylines and sharply written characters of this acclaimed drama.”

Ana Langenberg, SVP Formats & Production, NBCUniversal International Formats, commented: “We are delighted to extend the Suits brand further with such prestigious partners. With 115 original episodes to date, Suits remains one of the most popular US dramas. We hope that with Karga Seven Pictures’ expertise and the right home, it will enjoy similar success across Turkey.”

Karga Seven Pictures launched their Turkish outfit last year after producing in Turkey for a number of years, including successful feature films Takim: Mahalle Askina! (The Team) and 40. Recent productions include City of Secrets for Fox.

2018 sees Karga Seven Pictures celebrate its tenth anniversary, producing acclaimed scripted and non-scripted television and film for audiences worldwide, including forthcoming Travel Channel series Mysteries and Myths with Megan Fox (wt), and new Tim Kennedy series Hard to Kill for Discovery Channel.
