Lifetime in the US has announced the premiere date for the brand new Season 12 of Married at First Sight, produced by Kinetic Content.
Hosted by Kevin Frazier, Season 12 sees Atlanta couples head down the aisle, and kicks off on January 13, 2021 with a three-hour special.
Season 12 is set to be the most romantic, diverse, and surprising season yet as ten brave-but-loveless singles meet their new spouse at the altar and enter a legally binding marriage at first sight. With one groom pushing forty and another who has been divorced (both MAFS firsts), new insights are brought to a journey that is always full of high-stakes. While some marriages will survive, one couple confronts a bombshell that no one saw coming. As the season continues, each week will feature two-hour episodes and capture each couple’s emotional journey as they go from wedding to honeymoon, early nesting and eventually dealing with the daily struggles of working on their marriage. After several weeks together, each couple must make a decision: do they remain together for a happily ever after, or decide to divorce and go their separate ways?
Ahead of Season 12, Lifetime will end 2020 with a Season 12 MAFS: Matchmaking Special on December 30, 2020, and a MAFS: Kickoff Special the following week on January 6, 2021. The matchmaking special is an in-depth exploration of the matchmaking process that sees many hopeful singles putting their hearts on the line in order to find love. Ten lucky individuals will start out on the journey of a lifetime, as they learn that they will each be marrying a stranger in just a few short weeks! The Kickoff Special sees Kevin Frazier host a panel of insider experts for an exclusive first look at the epic upcoming season. This all-access, behind-the-scenes special takes a closer look at each of the five couples about to get married with never before seen moments from the selection process and previously unreleased secrets from the Married at First Sight experts.
Married at First Sight is produced by Kinetic Content, with Executive producers Chris Coelen, Eric Detwiler, Ally Simpson, Montre Burton and Toni Gallagher from Kinetic Content, and Gena McCarthy from Lifetime.
In other MAFS news this week, Channel 4 in the UK announced that CPL Productions was set to super-size the UK show, with Season 6 consisting of 20 x 1 hour episode.
The Married at First Sight format is created and produced by Snowman Productions in Denmark for DR3/DR1, and is distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, with local productions in over 29 territories worldwide including Lifetime in the US and Nine in Australia.
