Studio71 in the US is in development on new adventure mystery TV series Lost Island.

Created and written by Michael Younesi (Netflix’s Project Mc2), the series is now in active development by Younesi and Studio71’s Michael Schreiber, President of Scripted Content.

Younesi and Studio71 have previously worked together on family film Adventure Force 5, starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Ernie Hudson.

Lost Island is inspired by folklore from the South Pacific and Tiki culture, and follows a family as they move to a remote tropical island to fix up a dilapidated resort hotel. Soon after they arrive, the family discovers that both the hotel and the Island are haunted by ancient mysteries that threaten to destroy the whole Island.

Studio71 US has produced a number of scripted movies and series, including festival favourite and Hulu hit Plus One, starring Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid; Facebook Watch show Real Bros of Simi Valley, created by and starring Jimmy Tatro, which has just completed its third season; and forthcoming Shudder-financed series V/H/S 94, the latest instalment of the V/H/S horror franchise.

“The mystery and magic of the uncharted have long captured my imagination,” said Younesi. “I’m excited to collaborate with Studio71 to bring this rich world to life… transporting audiences to a land of waterfalls, tribal drums and fantastic Shangri-la’s.”

“We really love the inventive, worldbuilding vision that Michael Younesi has brought to this project,” added Michael Schreiber, Studio71’s President of Scripted Content. “It’s a big, fun tentpole concept that’s great for the whole family.”
