NEW FORMATS AT MIPTV 2015

REAL MEN (created and produced by Fjernsynsforeningen in coproduction with DR) sees five charismatic everyday men embark upon the ultimate health transformation journey.

Over five months the contestants must take part in physical challenges ranging from swimming to meditation and martial arts. The series culminates with a grueling mixed outdoor event which will push the men to their physical and mental limits. But of course Real Men never shy away from a challenge – do they?

Coming together as friends and uniting a nation behind them, these Real Men are determined to change their lives for the better and have a lot of fun along the way.

The show was viewed by half of the Danish population earlier this year on Denmark’s main national broadcaster, DR1, and consistently scored over 80% above the slot average.

THE BIG SURPRISE (created and produced by Fischwillwurm Media GmBH for ProSieben): A hit on ProSieben in Germany, The Big Surprise, is the hilarious primetime prank show that sees friends and family plot the worst day ever for a hapless contestant. And just when they are pushed to their limits and want out, an amazing surprise is revealed.

Each episode features three different nightmare situations for the contestant, with light-hearted pranks along the way – and all filmed by hidden cameras.

Imagine you’re interning at a magazine and have to interview your favorite band – only to learn that the lead singer hooked up with your girlfriend the day before! Or you’re in charge of a bakery and a customer with a nut allergy has a reaction – they’re about to die and it’s all your fault! How about being told that your visa has run out and you’re going to be deported from the country you love?

During the show, viewers see behind the scenes as the prizes are secretly organized, ready for the big surprise. The show ends with the host springing a final prank and then the big surprise on the contestant – from a dream car or holiday, to emotional reunions and life-changing events.

SANTAS IN THE BARN (produced by Half Yard Productions for TruTV): Santas in the Barn is the magically ridiculous reality format that sees ten wannabe Santas together in a barn in the lead up to Christmas.

The male and female contestants come from all walks of life, and cheerily fight it out over festive contests to prove that they are the undisputed Kringle King! The Santa challenges range from chimney climbing and sleigh stuffing, to Christmas caroling and building gingerbread houses on ice. There’s even a Christmas present delivery challenge – can the Santas give out presents in a pitch-black house without waking a baby?

These holiday-style throwdowns give the winners a shot at immunity, whilst the losers face being voted out of the barn by their peers – icing their votes onto gingerbread cookies!

As their numbers dwindle over the course of eight episodes, the countdown is on to a Christmas Eve grand finale where the last survivor will be crowned the ultimate Santa and carry off the Christmas sack full of cash!

MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT (format originally produced by Snowman Productions for DR3): With straight to series pick-ups in over 15 countries, and game-changing ratings on A+E in the US, we see six singles take the most radical step in finding love yet as they marry a complete stranger. But will the new couples live happily ever after? Also available, new spin-off series Married at First Sight: The First Year.

MEET MY IDOL: Big dreams come true for talented kids in Meet My Idol (created and produced by SEO Entertainment for SAT.1) when kids with extraordinary skills meet their idols, from world-class musicians to top sportsmen.

FENCE OFF! (created and produced by RedSeven Entertainment for ZDF), is the new garden renovation competition where couples are given free reign to transform their neighbors’ gardens – all for a large cash prize.

HOUSE RULES (produced by Seven Network Operations for the Seven Network) sees six couples put their homes in the hands of competing strangers for a huge, life-changing prize – total payment of their mortgage! This home makeover show with a twist has proved itself a huge hit for Seven Networks in Australia.

3AM (created and produced by Left/Right for Showtime) is the high-energy new format from Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf that reveals the salacious side to a big city at night, and offers an insight into the lives of city dwellers who work and party through the early hours.

WHAT IF? (created by SHELTER for 2BE) is the hilarious comedy sketch show that imagines things that never happened, but what if they had?!
