Red Arrow Studios International has struck a long-term development deal with the award-winning, Israeli writing and producing partners Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem. Under the partnership the team will develop multiple premium drama projects together.
Leshem and Cohen will launch a new scripted label, targeted at the international market, that will include the Red Arrow development deal. The label will develop Leshem and Cohen projects, and also develop projects from other writers. Fellow Israeli screen writer and content developer Daniel Amsel will be head of development for the label, which is yet to be named.
Increasingly high-profile in the international marketplace, Cohen and Leshem co-created and wrote the award-winning Ta Gordin (The Gordin Cell), which went on to have a US remake called Allegiance (NBC). Cohen also created and wrote the celebrated Israeli hit Kfulim (False Flag), which has aired in 127 countries.
Leshem’s teen drama Euphoria which he co-wrote with Daniel Amsel, has also recently been picked up for a US remake by HBO, starring the American actress and singer Zendaya. Leshem is an executive producer, along with Canadian rapper Drake and DJ, music executive and producer, Future the Prince.
Leshem, a former television executive, is also an award-winning novelist and his debut novel Beaufort won Israel’s most prestigious literary award, the Sapir Prize for Literature, and has been translated into over 20 languages. Leshem co-wrote the novel’s film adaptation, which was Academy Award nominated and won the Silver Bear at Berlinale for Best Director.
