Red Arrow Studios International is heading into Fall 2021 with a varied slate of new titles from award-winning creators across scripted, formats and factual programming.
The scripted line-up is led by Blackout: Tomorrow Is Too Late (6 x 45’), an ambitious new international thriller produced by W&B Television for Joyn and SAT.1 (Germany). The German-language series sees the past catch up with a former hacker when a sudden blackout plunges Europe into darkness and is based on Marc Elsberg’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Alongside this is Australian Gangster (2 x 90’ or 4 x 45’), the astonishing true story of gangster Pasquale Barbaro. Focusing on the last four years of his short life, it’s a wild tale of ruthless ambition and revenge, set within the Sydney underworld, where gangsters and the Instagram generation collide with Sydney’s glamorous social elite. The series is produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond with the assistance of Screen Australia in association with Create NSW for Channel Seven (Australia).
Further highlights include season two of the hit crime series Stella Blómkvist (3 x 90’ or 6 x 45’), produced by Sagafilm for Síminn (Iceland) and Viaplay (Sweden) with support from the Icelandic Film Centre, the Ministry of Industries and Innovation and MEDIA, Creative Europe. The new instalment sees Stella return, taking us deeper into the dangerous, stylish and sexy world of contemporary Icelandic noir.
Red Arrow Studio International’s format offering is headlined by a new family entertainment format acquisition, Who Is The Phantom?, originally produced by Constantin Television for ProSieben (Germany). This primetime entertainment format sees celebrities attempt to guess the identity of the mystery Phantom – a famous face hidden behind a mask – by solving riddles and cracking visual clues. Also available is Couple Wars, originally produced by Deutsche ProducktionsUnion for SAT.1 (Germany), in which competing couples undertake very personal challenges to test just how much they know about each other, in order to win a cash prize.
Further highlights include #Offlineinthewild, a fun, ‘fish out of water’ reality format, originally produced by Redseven Entertainment for Joyn (Germany), in which six social media stars are stripped of their cell phones and gadgets before venturing deep into the forest for a wild week of back to basics living, survival skills, and campsite challenges.
Additionally, Red Arrow Studios International will present Quizness, an innovative new quiz show originally produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 (UK) in which the more answers the contestants know, the sillier they have to look to prove it! Alongside this is primetime format The Opposite Show, based on the original version produced by Leonine for SAT.1 (Germany). In this highly entertaining gameshow, nothing is as expected; right is left, yes is no, loud is quiet, and every win is a loss.
Factual highlights include Deadly StandOff (6 x 60′), a history series exploring the stories behind six extraordinary standoffs that shook a nation, from the early tensions that sparked these confrontations, to their deadly conclusions. The series is produced by North South Productions for Reelz in the US.
The new supersized version of Married at First Sight: UK (21 x 60’) which, produced by CPL Productions, debuted to huge success on E4 this fall is also available, along with the eighth season of Married at First Sight: Australia (32 x 90’), produced by Endemol Shine Australia for Nine Network and Married at First Sight: USA season 13 (1 x 180’, 17 x 120’ + 7 specials), another hit iteration of the world’s leading relationship show, produced by Kinetic Content for Lifetime.
