Production of crime series “Jo” (working title, formerly “Le Grand”) starring superstar Jean Reno started on Monday in Paris. Reno plays an elite cop who stops at nothing to solve mysterious murder cases.

Alongside Jean Reno the cast includes Jill Hennessy (“Crossing Jordan”, “Luck”) as Jo’s confidante and potential love interest, Tom Austen (“The Borgias”) as Jo’s partner and Heida Reed (“One Day”) as Jo’s estranged daughter Adèle. Charlotte Sieling (“The Bridge”), Stefan Schwartz (“Dexter”) and Kristoffer Nyholm (“Forbrydelsen – The Killing”) will direct eight one-hour episodes. Emmy-winning producer René Balcer (“Law & Order”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) serves as the showrunner of “Jo”, which he created with Malina Detcheva and Franck Ollivier.

“Jo” will be the first drama series to be shot entirely on location in Paris and filmed in English. It is produced by Atlantique Productions and will air on TF1 in France. Red Arrow International handles the international distribution.

About “Jo”

“Jo” (formerly “Le Grand”) is a one-hour procedural crime drama about a Parisian police detective played by Jean Reno (“Leon – The Professional”). Each of Jo’s cases is tied to one of Paris’ iconic locations – Notre Dame, the Catacombs, the Eiffel Tower, the Place de la Concorde Obelisk and the Opera, highlighting the second star of the series: Paris. The series was co-created by Emmy Award winner René Balcer, writer and producer of over 400 episodes of the “Law & Order” franchise and creator of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”.
