Munich, April 25, 2012. Ukrainian production company Star Media Film has picked up the remake rights for Germany’s award-winning dramedy “Danni Lowinski”. “Masha V Zakone” which translates to “Masha in Law” will air on Ukrainian commercial channel STB as well as Russian broadcaster Domashny. “Masha V Zakone” will start production in May 2012.

Daria Lavrova, producer at Star Media says: “This series interesting for several reasons: the heroine is a graphic example of a modern young lady who doesn’t fear difficulties or challenges and changes her life radically, starting from scratch and eventually finds her fortune. The series is full of social significance and helps average people understand that one can achieve their goals despite everything. We think this to be very important and are sure the viewers will appreciate it as well.”

Axel Böhm Regional Sales Director CEE, Italy and Spain says: “’Danni Lowinski’ and its outstanding mix of comical and dramatic storytelling were a hit from the get go. The character is truly universal and therefore perfect for a remake – the first adaptation in Belgium scored record ratings. I am sure ‘Masha’ will charm Ukrainian and Russian viewers just as much.”
