The eighth season of Married at First Sight Australia premieres down under on Monday, February 22. The new series will air at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now and will run to 32 x 90’ episodes.

Season eight will also see a new expert join the series: Alessandra Rampolla, a certified clinical sexologist from Puerto Rico who brings an expertise in sexology and joins existing experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling.

To whet viewers appetites in the run up to the new season launch, Nine aired The Married at First Sight Grand Reunion, a 2 x 90’ event special, which reunited the most memorable brides and grooms from Seasons Five and Six across two nights in early February. The event built over both nights, with episode two delivering Nine a share of +35% across all key demographics. On 9Now it was the No 1 program streamed against all key competitors, with 10.6 million total minutes viewed (Live +VOD).

Married at First Sight: Australia continues to be huge success for Nine; the final episode of season seven attracted a national average audience of 1.9m, winning the night across all key demos and helping the broadcaster command its highest share of the week – at 31.5%.

Produced by Endemol Shine, the Australian version of the hit reality series is also proving to be a ratings driver in other key territories. On February 4, Married at First Sight Australia season six launched on Lifetime in the US, while in the UK, Seasons Four to Seven have been sold to Channel 4 for broadcast on E4.

Inspired the huge success of Married at First Sight Australia on E4 in summer 2020 – it was the biggest non scripted show for E4 since 2018 – the UK broadcaster is also supersizing its own version of the format: Season Six will consist of 20 x 1 hour episodes and will air on E4 in 2021. The UK version of Married at First Sight is produced by CPL Productions.

The Married at First Sight format is created and produced by Snowman Productions in Denmark for DR3/DR1, and is distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, with local productions in 30 territories worldwide.
