New high concept drama Plan B, starring Patrick J Adams (Suits) and Karine Vanasse (Cardinal, Pan Am), has delivered top ratings for CBC in Canada.

The series drew an engaged audience for the broadcaster, with a relatively consistent viewership, returning to CBC TV week over week. Plan B also garnered a higher percentage of 25-54 viewers than the average CBC primetime program (2022-23), and grew the 25-54 audience in its slot relative to last season. The series attracted an audience with a higher percentage of males, 35-49 year olds and viewers with a post secondary education, compared to the average CBC primetime viewer in the 2022-23 season.

Plan B was also a huge success for CBC’s Digital streaming platform CBC Gem, where the show has been a top 20 program since its February premiere; it is also the top new linear drama on CBC Gem, with episodes garnering more views in the first week of posting than any other new linear drama this season

CBC’s English-language remake (6×60’) is produced by KOTV, written by Jean-François Asselin, Jacques Drolet and Lynne Kamm and follows a man on a desperate and relentless quest to save his relationship – and by extension, his whole world.

CBC’s version marks the third remake of Plan B, which also has local versions in France (TF1) and Belgium (Streamz). Season four of the original French-Canadian version, also produced by KOTV, aired earlier this year on Radio-Canada and its digital platform Tou.tv Extra. Red Arrow Studios International distributes the series and the format internationally.
