• Antena 3 to air the show in 2024
  • Format continues to post record ratings in Germany

LONDON, February 1, 2024: Red Arrow Studios International has secured a deal with production company Boxfish for a local Spanish version of the smash hit entertainment format Beat the Channel. To be called López y Leal contra el canal in Spain, it will be produced by Boxfish for Atresmedia TV.

The original Beat the Channel, produced by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben (local title: Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben) is a huge hit in Germany where it continues to grow in popularity. The latest season five reached a show high average market share of 17.9% among Viewers 14-49 and a whopping 25.2% among Viewers 14-39.

Beat the Channel is a high-energy and totally original primetime entertainment format which sees two popular TV presenters given the chance to win a 15-minute live broadcast slot, where anything goes! In Spain, two of the country’s most charismatic presenters: Roberto Leal and Iñaki López, will team up to face a series of physical and mental challenges. At the end of each episode it will be decided whether the duo have won or lost against the network. If they win, they will secure valuable time in front of the camera to do and say whatever they want. If they lose, they will be placed at the channel’s disposal for a full day! López y Leal contra el canal will be presented by Eva González.

Tim Gerhartz, managing director of Red Arrow Studios International said:

“We are delighted that Antena 3 has commissioned Beat the Channel. Broadcasters around the world are looking for entertainment formats that differentiate their schedules and with its high-energy, hilarious stunts, games and celebrity guests, this format ticks all the boxes. Following its outstanding success in Germany, we’re confident that Spanish viewers will enjoy this noisy, watercooler hit which makes for perfect family viewing.”

Edi Walter CEO of Boxfish added:
