It’s all about the taste. MediaCorp Singapore has secured first window rights to cooking competition show “The Taste” for both the US version as well as the option to a local remake. The ready-made will also air on the Lifestyle Network Channel in the Philippines.

“We were sold on The Taste’s hot-formula pedigree of two of the culinary world’s superstars. MediaCorp is pleased to have picked up the first-window rights for Singapore and we can’t wait to bring this potential hit to our viewers across multiple platforms in 2013.” says Joy Olby-Tan, Vice President of Network Acquisitions at MediaCorp Channel 5.

Macie Ferreros Imperial, Head, Program Acquisition, Creative Programs Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation: “We are very excited to air ‘The Taste’ in the Philippines not only for it’s interesting format but also because it showcases two very popular celebrity chefs.  Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain have quite a following on the LIFESTYLE NETWORK channel and we are eager to watch how their chemistry develops on the show.”

Jamie I, Senior Sales Manager Asia at Red Arrow International in Hong Kong, says, “This is amazing. With its key ingredients of nerve-wrecking competition and delicious food ‘The Taste’ created a huge buzz all over the world. After the sale to India we are absolutely psyched that it will now air in two more Asian territories.”

In the U.S., ABC has ordered eight episodes of “The Taste” in which famed foodies Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain head a distinguished panel of four judges to pit America’s most skilled cooks against one another.

“The Taste” was created by Kinetic Content, Red Arrow’s US production company led by Chris Coelen.

The Taste

For the first time ever Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson are teaming up to get down to what truly matters, the way the food tastes! Our culinary superstars are going back to basics: the taste! Both home cooks and restaurateurs are given the opportunity of a lifetime, as they sharpen their skills and train with the best culinary experts in the business. Our superstar mentors will each coach a team of cooks, who they hand pick based on their dishes alone. In each episode there are two challenges; a team challenge and an individual challenge. At the end of each show the mentors must decide together who to eliminate. “The Taste” has already been picked up by FOX for India, Australia’s Nine Network and M6 in France.
