Netherland’s RTL 4 and Belgium’s VTM acquired the remake rights for cooking competition show “The Taste”. The Dutch-Belgian co-production features two Dutch and two Belgian chefs. Produced by Red Arrow’s Sultan Sushi, “The Taste” debuts this Fall.

Erland Galjaard, Programme Director RTL Nederland: “With ‘The Taste’ again we bring a new format to our family channel RTL 4. A cooking competition with our Dutch culinary experts Herman den Blijker and Robert Kranenborg. The unique aspect is the fact that the professional chefs judge the candidates through blind tasting of their cooking. It’s a fight at all fronts and the only thing that really matters is the taste.”

An Rydant, station manager VTM, adds: “Who can cook best: Flanders or the Netherlands? Finally, we will find out with the new show ‘The Taste’. Our Flemish chefs Wout Bru (1 Michelin star) and Gert De Mangeleer (3 Michelin stars) will judge the candidates through blind tasting and select the best ones to – hopefully – conquer the Dutch teams.”

Henrik Pabst, Senior Vice President Sales Benelux at Red Arrow International, says: “When the two biggest commercial channels in Benelux join forces, viewers are in for a treat. It’s exciting to be part of such a unique transnational co-production, and I’m curious which country will win the culinary showdown.”

Originally commissioned by ABC, “The Taste” scored the channel’s highest debut in two years. Created by Kinetic Content, Red Arrow’s US production company, ‘The Taste’ is executive-produced by Chris Coelen, Matilda Zoltowski, Emma Conway, Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson. Sales of “The Taste” include CTV for Canada, Australia’s Nine Network and M6 in France.

About “The Taste”:

Our four culinary superstars are going back to basics: the taste! Both home cooks and restaurateurs are given the opportunity of a lifetime, as they sharpen their skills and train with the best culinary experts in the business. Our superstar mentors will each coach a team of cooks, who they hand pick based on their dishes alone. In each episode there are two challenges; a team challenge and an individual challenge. At the end of each show the mentors must decide together who to eliminate.
