Red Arrow Studios International is heading to MIPTV 2021 with a slate of new shows from award-winning creators across scripted, formats and factual.
The company’s scripted offering will be led by the second seasons of premium international drama series Vienna Blood and Departure. Produced by Endor Productions and MR Film for ORF (Austria) and ZDF (Germany), Vienna Blood follows Max Liebermann (played by Matthew Beard), a brilliant young English doctor and student of Sigmund Freud, and the tenacious Detective Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt (Juergen Maurer), as they investigate a series of unusual and disturbing murders. The upcoming second instalment of Vienna Blood (3×90’ or 6×45’) features another three feature-length episodes, written by acclaimed screenwriter Steve Thompson and adapted from Frank Tallis’ best-selling novels.
The second season of high-octane event drama Departure (6 x 45’) focuses on the investigation into the tragic crash of the Apollo, a new high speed train travelling from Toronto to Chicago. The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures for Global (Canada) and stars Archie Panjabi, who reprises her role as Kendra Malley, alongside Kris Holden-Ried, Jason O’Mara and the late Christopher Plummer in his last television role.
Red Arrow Studio International’s format slate features original new gameshow Stealing the Show! Based on the hugely successful original version produced by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben (Germany), the series reinvents the traditional quiz show format, as three celebrity contestants and a member of the public all compete to win the most extraordinary prize in quiz show history: the show itself! Alongside this is Secret Treasures of the Museum, which sees famous faces take a magical tour behind the scenes at a museum for a unique new twist on the treasure hunt format. The series is originally produced by Snowman Productions for DR (Denmark).
Factual highlights include The Weekly: Special Edition (8×60’), a powerful collection of standalone, premium documentaries, driven by the unparalleled journalism and insight of The New York Times. Produced by The New York Times and Left/Right for FX and Hulu, the collection features the highly acclaimed Framing Britney Spears documentary about the pop star’s court battle for control of her estate and the media’s handling of one of the biggest pop stars of all time.
Further factual highlights include Behind History (6×60’),an in-depth look at the stories behind some of the most momentous events, remarkable ideas, and extraordinary people the world has ever known from WildBear Entertainment for Kabel Eins Doku (Germany). Also from WildBear Entertainment is Surviving Australia (4×60’), which is produced for Nine (Australia) and explores what it takes to survive the dangerous world Down Under.
Additionally, Red Arrow Studios International is bringing the eighth season of Married at First Sight Australia (32×90’), produced by Endemol Shine Australia for Nine Network. The season eight premiere of the hugely successful local version was the most watched entertainment programme of the day in Australia. Also heading to MIPTV is Married at First Sight USA season 12 (16×120’), another hit iteration of the world’s leading relationship show. The supersized US version is produced by Kinetic Content for Lifetime and following the show’s continuous success, Lifetime has commissioned an additional five seasons, through to season 17.
