New scripted, format and factual launches include the Apollo 11 collection, The Weekly, Death and Nightingales and Falco (Mexico).

LONDON. JANUARY 10, 2019: Red Arrow Studios International is heading to this year’s NATPE with a broad slate of high-profile shows across scripted, formats and factual genres, from a host of standout creators.

Red Arrow Studios International’s non-scripted slate includes a timely Apollo 11 collection made up of five inspiring factual shows focusing on the eponymous moon landing in its 50th anniversary year. Headlining is Prisoners of the Moon (1 x 75’ or 1 x 60’), the incredible true story of Arthur Rudolph, one of over 100 Nazi V2 rocket engineers secretly brought to America in 1945 to work on the Cold War missile programme. He became a key figure in NASA’s race into space; but in 1990 was arrested on suspicion of being a war criminal.  Prisoners of the Moon is produced by Bandit Films, Lucataire and Partners in Motion for CBC (Canada).

The collection also includes three series produced by Steve Rotfeld Productions. Countdown to Apollo (8 x 30’ for Fox US) encompasses eight compelling episodes of easy to digest stories detailing the Apollo space programme. Also The Apollo Chronicles (4 x 60’ for CW) is a definitive behind-the-scenes story of how man first walked on the moon, a series as monumental as the event itself and an incredible tale of danger, ingenuity and triumph.  ArmSTRONG (1 x 60’ for National Geographic) is an hour-long documentary that provides a personal and in-depth look into the enigmatic character of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.

Rounding off the Apollo 11 collection is The Last Man on the Moon (1 x 96’ produced by Mark Stewart Productions). Five years in the making, the documentary unveils a wealth of rare archive footage focused on Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan and his personal story of fulfilment, love and loss.

Also available from Red Arrow Studios International at NATPE is The Weekly, the highly anticipated narrative news TV series from The New York Times, (30 x 27’). Produced by The New York Times and Left/Right for FX and Hulu (US), The Weekly is a landmark new series bringing unparalleled journalism and insight to the TV screen for the first time, delivering compelling US and international stories and going beyond the news to reveal the workings of one of the world’s great news organisations.

Red Arrow Studios International’s NATPE scripted slate includes major new BBC2 drama Death and Nightingales (3 x 60’ or 2 x 90’). Taking place over a desperately tense 24-hour period, this haunting new series is set in Ireland in 1885 and produced by The Imaginarium and Soho Moon Pictures. Death and Nightingales is adapted and directed by Allan Cubitt (The Fall), starring Emmy® award-winner Matthew Rhys, Jamie Dornan and rising new talent, Ann Skelly.

Further scripted highlights for NATPE include Falco (Mexico) (15 x 60’) produced by Dynamo and Spiral International for Amazon. The scripted crime series follows Alejandro Falco, a good policeman with a promising future and a young family whose perfect world is shattered when he is shot by a mysterious attacker in the line of duty.

Also heading to NATPE is Emmy-nominated series Bosch (40 x 60’) back for its fourth season, with season 5 coming soon. Based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels, Bosch stars Titus Welliver (“Lost”) as homicide Detective Harry Bosch, and in season four when an attorney is murdered on the eve of his civil rights trial against the LAPD, Bosch is assigned to lead a Task Force to solve the crime before the city erupts in a riot. Bosch is produced by Fabrik Entertainment for Amazon Studios.

Red Arrow Studios International scripted NATPE slate also features comedy The Longest Week (1 x 91’) produced by Armian Pictures, Atlantic Pictures, Far Hills Pictures, YRF Entertainment and Yash Raj Films. The Longest Week follows the affluent and aimless Conrad Valmont, played by critically acclaimed actor Jason Bateman, as he lives a life of leisure in his parents’ prestigious Manhattan Hotel but in the span of just one week, finds himself evicted, disinherited and in love.
