One of Germany’s largest non-scripted producers has returned to the studio for the first time since the outbreak of the Coronavirus
MUNICH, May 29, 2020. SAT.1 in Germany has recommissioned hit primetime cooking competition The Taste, produced by Red Arrow Studios company Redseven Entertainment, for an eighth season.
The show marks the first time that Redseven has gone into full production on a studio series since the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
One of SAT.1’s highest rating shows, the new season of The Taste has started production this week in Munich, Germany, for a Fall 2020 premiere.
The new season will see model and author Angelina Kirsch take over presenting duties, alongside a panel of judges that includes newcomer, Austrian chef Alex Kumptner, and regular judges Alexander Herrmann, Tim Raue and Frank Rosin. 16 amateur and professional chefs from all over Germany are participating in the show.
Jobst Benthues, CEO of Redseven Entertainment, said: “It feels great to return to the studio again for so many reasons, and especially to bring ‘The Taste’ back to German fans. Ensuring the safety of our contestants, our talent, and the whole crew is of paramount importance to us, and we are working with professional safety experts and officials to ensure that we adhere to every safety guideline and protocol within the studio. It is going to be a great season.”
In The Taste, contestants must compete for the judges’ approval based on the blind taste of a single spoonful of food, for the chance to win €50,000 and their own cookbook.
The format was originally created and produced by Kinetic Content for ABC (US), and has now been distributed by Red Arrow Studios International to over 40 territories worldwide.
Redseven has produced a number of shows during the Coronavirus crisis, including ProSieben live musical festival The Great ProSieben Living Room Festival (Das große ProSieben Wohnzimmer-Festival), where over 40 national and international music superstars performed live from their own living rooms; Kabel Eins commission We Cook Together! At Home With A Top Chef (Wir kochen zusammen! Zuhause beim Spitzenkoch); and interactive talkshow ProSieben LIVE. Germany asks about Corona (ProSieben LIVE. Deutschland fragt zu Corona).
The company is also starting production on four special Coronavirus episodes of its hit, long-running Kabel Eins series Rosins Restaurants, currently in its thirteenth season. The show will be called Rosin’s Restaurants – Now more than ever! (Rosins Restaurants – Jetzt erst recht!)
